Il Bianco di Ludovico

Riserva DOC Sicilia

A wine that celebrates the union between the Mediterranean and the World, telling the story of Ludovico and the Mediterranean dream. It does it as only a great wine can do, thanks to the union between Catarratto, emblem of Sicilian white wines, and Chardonnay, among the most known and cultivated varietals in the world. White as the Cretto, white as peace, white as beauty. White like the hat that Ludovico used to wear, white like purity.

Catarratto 90% - Chardonnay 10%
Riserva Doc Sicilia
Black soil up to 500 metres above sea level
Bright yellow colour with greenish reflections
A bouquet of Mediterranean and international hints introduces white-fleshed fruit such as plum, apple and pineapple and light hints of flint, destined to increase with the evolution in the bottle
Rich on the palate, where roundness and complexity are well integrated with mineral notes
It goes well with lots of Mediterranean dishes, as cous cous, grilled fish, oysters and shellfish
After a cryomaceration, the grapes are soft pressed and thanks to the indigenous and spontaneous yeasts the fermentation start and continue during 20 days at controlled temperature. Only at this point Catarratto and Chardonnay are blended, becoming the blend of Ludovico's White. Follow 6 months of aging on the lees with 2 batonnage per week. For the next 6 months, half of the wine ages in oak French barrels, half in steel. Once the wine is blended again, stay another 6 months in steel sur lies and at least 4 months in bottle.

Black Soil

On the gentle hills of the Trapani hinterland, we find this type of land, rich in silt-clay substances, compact and resistant to drought. Thanks to its characteristics it appears to be the ideal habitat for the farming of many varieties, of both red and white grapes, and becomes for us the perfect soil for the cultivation of our Syrah and Nero d\'Avola. The latter is used as varietal as well as blended for Ludovico, wine dedicated to Ludovico Corrao and the jewel in the crown of the cellar.
